Job Description - Temporary Program Assistant
Minimum three-month, part-time position
19 hours per week
Start time: As soon as possible
Reporting to the Program Director, the temporary Program Assistant is responsible for providing programmatic support to the staff and volunteers of the College Program at San Quentin State Prison. This role requires interaction with a wide range of people, including students, correctional staff and administrators, and volunteers.
This is a part-time position for three months. The primary duty will be escorting volunteer faculty members to and from afternoon and evening classes inside the institution and supervising classes on-site while in-session. For this reason, we seek a candidate available at least two afternoons and two evenings per week who already holds a Brown Card with San Quentin State Prison. This position will regularly include work on Fridays and on Sunday afternoons and evenings.
Other job duties include providing support for the day-to-day operation of the College Program at San Quentin, including overseeing small administrative projects and conducting administrative tasks such as photocopying, data entry, and filing.

• Ability to interact with a wide variety of constituencies professionally
• Mastery of basic computer skills (MS Office Suite including Excel, Google Documents and Group, etc.)
• Position requires lifting up to 40 pounds for ¼ of the time.
Compensation: $17 per hour
