SUMMARY
Public Health Foundation Enterprises (PHFE) and the Urban Health Program at RTI International are recruiting for a full time Project Coordinator to supervise a community-based study involving rapid HIV testing, counseling and data collection with active drug users in Oakland, CA. Employment is provided by PHFE. The Coordinator will be responsible for data collection and testing/counseling activities in the field, and will supervise a team of interviewers/counselors. The Coordinator will also be responsible for quarterly data collection and viral load testing with a small cohort of HIV-positive participants. We are seeking a flexible, solution-oriented and well-organized candidate who has worked with drug users from a harm reduction perspective, who has experience in rapid HIV testing, and who is familiar with Oakland. The majority of the work for this position will be conducted in Oakland, CA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Locate appropriate community field sites
• Schedule, support and supervise interviewers/counselors
• Organize and supervise all data collection activities
• Screen and schedule study participants
• Oversee processing of Oraquick and Orasure HIV tests
• Oversee collection and delivery of serum samples
• Manage and maintain participant incentive fund
• Systematically complete accurate records regarding participants & procedures
• Ensure compliance with human subjects protocols
• Bring all necessary materials & equipment, set up and break down field sites
• Provide ongoing feedback to Principal Investigator and Study Director about field conditions
• Collaborate with study investigators on presentations of study findings

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word
• Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is necessary
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
• Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality, good judgment, ability to prioritize, independence and ability to work with others in an office setting
Education/Experience
• Bachelors or Masters degree in relevant field preferred
• Minimum of 1 years experience in data collection
• Minimum of 2 years experience working with marginalized populations, such as drug users, homeless people, sex workers
• Familiarity with the practice and principles of harm reduction
• Basic experience with Microsoft Office programs (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel)
• One year supervision experience
• Experience using computerized data collection programs preferred
• Experience conducting HIV testing and counseling preferred
• Experience coordinating community-based research preferred
