JOB DESCRIPTION

Re-Entry Career Coach, Antioch

The Re-Entry Career Coach provides job readiness, placement, retention, and case management services to clients with barriers to employment, including those formerly incarcerated, homeless, and/or low-income non-custodial parents. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Antioch Site Manager.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES* (Includes specific data capture, documentation and reporting requirements)
1* Job placement and retention: Develop employer contacts and referral sources and generate job leads; market services; make job placements and provide post-placement support to clients and employers; participate in employer recruitment events; job fairs, and networking events.
2* Case management: Conduct intake interviews, eligibility determination, pre-employment preparation, and advocacy; connect clients with Rubicon services including Legal, Housing and Financial, and services at partner organizations; accompany clients to appointments.
3* Coaching: Assess client service needs and collaborate with client to develop and follow a self-sufficiency plan; motivate the client to achieve career goals; provide honest, productive feedback; coach on effective strategies to address the role of a criminal record in the job search process.
4* Group facilitation/instruction: Conduct workshops, discussion groups and/or classes on topics including but not limited to job readiness, cognitive thinking, and financial literacy.

* To perform successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The responsibilities listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these duties.

COMPETENCIES
1. Teamwork and interpersonal flexibility; solid organizational and problem solving abilities; coaching skills and the ability to motivate and inspire; excellent facilitation and communication skills.
2. Solid understanding of the basics of job search and career development, including proper conduct during the interview process and use of the internet as a tool.

REQUIREMENTS
1. Work experience involving the provision of job development or career counseling services preferably to economically disadvantaged, the recently incarcerated, homeless and/or low- income non-custodial parents.
2. This position requires the incumbent to travel efficiently throughout Contra Costa County therefore proof of a valid driver license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report are required.

Note: Clearance to enter correctional facilities is desirable as it would allow the incumbent to participate in pre-release activities.

GRADE: N09
